FROM LOGS TO LOOMS
Beautiful Birch
In Finland, near the Arctic Circle, northern hardwood birch trees grow straight and tall, strong and hardy. This is where Norwood Looms are born.
Experienced Toika tree buyers travel hundreds of kilometers, often over ice roads carved from frozen lakes and ponds, to reach the forests. They inspect the trees and personally select the hardiest and most mature trees.
After harvesting, the logs are hauled to the Toika mill where each spring a crew cuts the trees into rough lumber. The boards are then stacked to be air dried for up to two years. After air-drying, the wood is then kiln dried for up to a month before it is ready for grading and production.

AMERICAN DESIGN & EUROPEAN CRAFTMANSHIP
Timeless and perfected design, quality components, precision manufacturing, superb finishing and careful packing are what Norwood looms are all about.
CAD-CAM production systems and large component runs mean that parts are identically and efficiently manufactured. From logs to looms, the combination of unique and excellent manufacturing capabilities and dynamic marketing and distribution, gives you the best of both worlds - a proven American design and outstanding European craftsmanship.

THE NORWOOD LOOM LINE
Looms for Every Space

Norwood offers a loom for every living space – from the small versatile Workshop Loom to the largest, multiple harness Floor Loom.
All Norwood looms are finished with a double coat of environmentally friendly, water-based sealer, assuring that your loom will keep its “like new” look for many years. All metal parts are precision-machined and ground, polished galvanized steel, allowing for smooth operation and assuring long lasting beauty.

  • The jack-type action of Norwood looms provides independent harness operation for artistic versatility and ease of use.
  • All Norwood looms fold to just 28” deep, even when warped, and will fit through most standard doorways.
  • The depth of the loom when open provides a very large weaving space between the beater and the breast beam allowing for a spectacular shed.
  • Each Norwood loom comes with your choice of flat steel heddles or inserted-eye wire heddles and a stainless steel reed of choice.
  • Free-floating lamms, chain tie-up system, and ratchet brake system, are standard features - all of which make Norwood an exceptional loom to own.
  • Options include rails to convert the back beam to sectional warping.
  • Twelve treadles are standard on 8-shaft floor looms.

In the following pages, you will find all of our looms presented, from the smallest Workshop model to the largest Floor Loom. All measurements and features are listed to enable you to choose the Norwood that best meets your needs.
